One research found that valerian diminishes tension in mice by enabling retain of serotonin and norepinephrine in two particular brain regions that are related to fear and nervousness named hippocampus and amygdala.

The presence of these two neurotransmitters helps alleviate unnecessary action in the hippocampus/amygdala.

Of course, while drinking valerian tea – or carrying it in tiny form – can be very helpful during stressful moments, there’s further we can do to improve our stress stability.
